Today, Warner Bros. Games shared a cinematic trailer for MultiVersus, the upcoming fighter developed by Player First Games. A platform fighting game in the vein of Super Smash Bros., MultiVersus lets you play as one of over a dozen characters owned by Warner Bros., everyone from Superman to Arya Stark to Jake the Dog. The trailer, titled “You’re with Me,” brings together some of the characters you’ll be able to play as when the game launches, and is entertaining whether you’re interested in the game itself or not. You can watch it below.

The visuals are very impressive, thanks to the lush art style and lively animation. But how MultiVersus actually plays remains an open question. Player First Games is made up of veteran developers, but it’s a brand-new studio, so it doesn’t have a track record to look at to get a measure of their ability to make quality games. Plus, no platform fighter has quite been able to capture the frenetic magic of the Super Smash Bros. series, though many have tried.

Thankfully, the game is free-to-play, so there’s no risk in trying it out. The sheer amount of characters and the variety of IP they represent is sure to drive interest in the game. However, the game is only releasing on PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows at launch, so gamers who only own a Switch or were hoping to play on mobile will not be able to get their hands on the game until a later date.

Hopefully MultiVersus is as pleasing to play as it is to look at. We won’t have long to wait to find out. The game is set to release in July. If you don’t want to wait, you can sign up for the closed alpha to play the game early on the game’s official website.
